District cooling and substations in the city

Underground culvert installation on Västmannagatan, a heavily trafficked road near Norra Bantorget in Stockholm City.

The most sensitive customer in the blocks was Strindberg’s Intimate Theatre, which initially approved routing the pipes through their premises but later withdrew their approval. We then had to route the pipes down to the lower basement. This led to contact with archaeological remains documented by the Stockholm City Museum. It was an old exercise yard for a prison that had been located there. After documentation, we were granted permission to remove it.

The complex indoor piping through the properties was constructed in stainless steel with sheet metal and foam insulation to each district cooling substation.

Termoekonomi was responsible for design, construction management, and project management for the installation of the cooling plants.
