District heating forms the foundation of an efficient energy system

We offer district heating services across the entire chain – production, distribution, and substations.

Production

We have 40 years of experience with large-scale (1–150 MW) heat pump installations, both in Sweden and internationally. These systems recover heat from wastewater, lakes and seas, process industries, exhaust air, outdoor air, ground/bedrock, and district cooling. Heat pump technology is our core area of expertise, but we also work on projects involving biomass boilers and electric boilers.

In combined heat and power (CHP) plants, for example, absorption heat pumps can be a cost-effective option for energy optimisation.

Distribution

Pipelines

We have experience designing district heating networks up to DN 1400 – though in most cases, the dimensions are significantly smaller. In the initial stage, we prepare a proposed pipeline layout along with an investment calculation. During implementation, we offer design, construction management, and project management. Depending on project needs, we design in both 2D and 3D. Hydraulic calculations are carried out in ROHR2.

Pumping stations

Pumping stations are typically designed in 3D as standard. Thanks to our experience with production facilities, we manage all aspects of a pumping station.

Utility coordination

Most larger projects require coordination of multiple utility systems. We offer this service as a standalone offering, whether or not district heating is part of the project.

Substations

The district heating substation marks the energy company’s physical boundary with its customers. Typically, the property owner is responsible for the installation and operation of these systems – with or without support from the energy supplier. In either case, we offer design, construction management, project management, inspection, and commissioning, including system balancing. We also assist in optimising existing substations to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
